ABOUT LAMA LHANANG & WISDOM PATH CENTERS
Venerable
Lama Lhanang Rinpoche is a spiritual teacher of the Nyingma Longchen
Nying-Thig order of Tibetan Buddhism. He has studied with many great
masters from different lineages of Tibetan Buddhism. The Sang Long Monastery
in Eastern Tibet has recognized him as the reincarnation of Ken Rinpoche
Damcho, an emanation of Nubchen Namke Nyingpo (one of the 25 disciples
of Padmasambhava). He shares teachings from an unbroken lineage in a
way that is fresh, cross-cultural, and current for these times. He is
an accomplished instructor of meditation, Anu-yoga, art, feng-shui,
cultural and historical studies as well as a skilled practitioner of
Tibetan medicine. Lama Lhanang is gifted in addressing the needs of
individuals so as to touch them in a gentle and profound way, and offers
private consultation on business and personal relationships.
Lama Lhanang was born, raised and educated in Golok, Amdo in northeastern
Tibet. Today he lives and teaches in the Los Angeles area and travels
extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico teaching,
consulting, speaking, and conducting spiritual ceremonies. In addition
to these activities, elsewhere on this website you'll find information
on Lama's artwork, Dharma and Wisdom Path Cultural Centers, as well as Project
Wisdom Path.
Wisdom Path Centers
Widsom Path Centers Worldwide are independently run and operated Dharma Centers and non-profit organizations inspired by the Vision of Lama Lhanang Rinpoche to provide students, the community and public with Buddhist teachings, centers of fellowship and places to meditate and develop their practice. Lama Lhanang serves as the spiritual teacher at the Centers. With his generous guidance, the Wisdom Path Centers continue to grow and provide meaningful service to students and the public. They are found throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and soon to be founded in Europe and Asia.
Education
Lama Lhanang Rinpoche was born, raised and educated
in Amdo, Golok in Eastern Tibet. His natural gifts as an artist and
scholar were evident early on. At seven years old he began to study
Tibetan feng-shui with Raya Lama, and at the age of ten he began to
study with the famous artist and scholar Awo Kar-la. At this time he
also began his formal training with his uncle, Lama Jingyam, and studied
reading, writing and chants.
The Mahasiddha Orgyen Ridgzin encouraged Lama Lhanang to enter the monastery
to continue formal studies. Hence, at age fourteen he entered Thubten
Chokhor Ling Monastery where he studied for seven years with his root
teachers, His Holiness Kusum Lingpa and Lama Choying Rinpoche. He also
studied with Kyilong Chenchok Tulku, Khenpo Padma Chojor, and in Nepal
with Thinley Norbu Rinpoche. He learned Ngondro, Mahayoga, Anuyoga and
the Great Perfection Vehicle with these teachers and finished the necessary
retreats to become a spiritual teacher of the Nyingma Longchen Nying-Thig
Lineage. He is an accomplished instructor of meditation, yoga, art,
Feng-Shui, cultural and historical studies as well as a skilled practitioner
of Tibetan medicine.
Upon completion of his monastic studies, he went on pilgrimages to holy
places in Tibet, China, Nepal and India. He received many teachings
and transmissions from His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, the Panchen Lama
and other highly realized teachers. His travels then brought him to
the United States where he currently resides.
Youth
Activities
Much of Lamas work focuses on the youth
of the world. He is a
keynote speaker and workshop leader at many international youth conferences,
schools and churches. He has participated in conferences at The Church
of Today in Michigan, Earth Dance Global Gathering 2000 of Native Peoples,
the Alternative High School in Scarborough, Canada, Native Peoples of
Winnipeg, and the Peace Pole conference at the University of Illinois.
In his work with young people, Lama offers guidance to the problems
of everyday life. He calls upon his own experience to assist youths
with their concerns about the future and their search for identity,
focusing on their feelings and how to use them in a peaceful and positive
way.
Orgyen

in El Centro, California. Project Wisdom Path is one of the
many projects
initiated by Lama Lhanang to help preserve Tibetan Culture.

Artistic
Work
Lama Lhanang is a gifted artist, musician, storyteller and dancer. His
artwork has been exhibited at various locations throughout the world,
including a recent show at the Julie Rico Gallery in Santa Monica, California.
Lamas stories for children are featured

and text by Lama. In dance, Lamas vision for peace throughout
the world has inspired a healing dance group which performs the Nine
Goddess Dance representing global peace.
Philosophy
Lama Lhanangs philosophy of life centers around happiness:
"Life is a gift offering
lessons in both the good and the bad. Be patient. Our hearts will grow
stronger from the learning."
Lama loves the elderly, for they are our
past. He loves the youth, for they are our future. He believes in universal
love for everyone, regardless of racial or cultural differences. We
are all brothers and sisters. We are all the same. The Truth is the
same for all of us. Seek the Truth.
